McAlester’s Wilson Allford – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Patriot Auto

VYPE: What grade are you in, and what sport and positions do you play?
Wilson Allford: I am a senior at McAlester High School. I play baseball and I’m an outfielder and pitcher.

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?
WA: Earning my first varsity win against Latta my junior year is the accomplishment I am most proud of.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?
WA: It has taught me to face adversity, to never give up, and to work together as a team for a common goal.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
WA: Coach Ra’Shaud Buie is my favorite teacher because he relates to his students and encourages them to do their best in class.

VYPE: Who has inspired you most throughout your baseball career and why?
WA: My dad has been the biggest influence because he has always been there for me and continues to encourage me on a daily basis.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
WA: My favorite part about representing my school as an athlete is showing that I am part of something bigger than myself. I strive to encourage my team to set a positive example for our school.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
WA: The best piece of advice anyone has given me is to be the best you can be every day.

VYPE: Is there anyone you’d like to give a shoutout or special thank you to?
WA: I would like to thank my parents and grandparents for always being there for me. They come to the games and cheer me on no matter what!

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
WA: The professional athlete I look up to most is Baker Mayfield, because he is the ultimate example of a competitor and role leader.
