The McAlester Pom Squad competed in Large Varsity GameDay Division 2. Division 2 consists of schools that have an ADM of 1300 students or less. Friday night, the team competed in the semi-finals where they were sitting in 8th place.
After competing on Saturday, McAlester jumped up to fourth place. “This is huge! The girls worked hard Friday night and Saturday morning to make adjustments to better the routine,” Coach Maggie Jo Meadows said.
GameDay is the newest category at Universal Dance Association and was added in 2018. Since then, GameDay has gained popularity across the nation and state, quickly growing to become the largest category at Nationals. McAlester previously competed in this category and had placed 12th in 2018 and 14th during COVID-19 when there was a virtual competition in 2021.
Congratulations to the McAlester Pom Squad on an outstanding performance and season!
