McAlester’s Dustin Jacobsen – Football Spotlight – Presented by Patriot Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of McAlester

For athletes, the journey through high school sports is often defined by the influence of coaches, the camaraderie of teammates and the guidance of mentors. At McAlester High School, football standout Dustin Jacobsen embodies these values, sharing insights into his life on and off the field.

Throughout his football career, Jacobsen’s favorite coach, Coach Harmon, has played a pivotal role. Coach Harmon’s impact extends beyond the gridiron, with his unwavering commitment to accountability and motivation. “He holds me accountable and keeps me motivated in working towards my goals,” Jacobsen said.

Teammates can be the backbone of an athlete’s journey, offering support and camaraderie.

For Jacobsen, one teammate, Zac Rogers, stands out. Their relationship goes beyond the football field, transcending into a brotherhood where mutual support is the norm. It’s this unity within the team that often propels athletes to greatness.

In the realm of academics, teachers can leave a lasting impression. Mrs. Laurie Smith, the high school principal, has been influential to Jacobsen. “She is like my second mother, I spend a lot of time with her son,” he said.

To excel in football, athletes need to prepare tirelessly during the off-season. Jacobsen’s regimen included rigorous speed and agility training at C4 Physical Training and Fitness in Durant. Despite a brief setback due to surgery, his commitment to getting better never wavered.

Football isn’t just about touchdowns and tackles; it’s a school of life. “Don’t dwell on the past keep your eyes forward; buckle down and get your priorities done,” Jacobsen said.

The McAlester Buffaloes have one goal this season – a gold ball in December. The collective determination to clinch the State Championship resonates among the team members, with Jacobsen at the forefront.

While looking ahead, there’s one matchup that stands out – the upcoming game against Sapulpa. It’s not just another game; it’s a chance for redemption following a challenging game last year.

Beyond high school, Dustin Jacobsen has ambitious plans. College football is on the horizon, and if not, a career in the workforce in Illinois awaits him.
