MCALESTER BUFFALOES
Head Coach: Laurie Smith
2021 McAlester Volleyball Schedules
A new season means new opportunities for the Buffaloes of McAlester High School, as their volleyball team looks to show a lot of improvement compared to the season before. The Buffaloes are confident that they will be able to win more games due to their hard work they have been putting in during the off-season, and returning some key players helps, too.
Head coach Laurie Smith is excited for all her players but has a few that have caught her eye. DayDay Wright is one of the player’s coach Smith is most excited about, being an excellent leader for her team. “She is everything you want in a student, captain, and teammate,” Smith said. Coach Smith applauds Wright for multiple things but says her work ethic and determination will help lead this team to success. Wright gets the most valuable player award from her coach.
Wright will have plenty of help on the volleyball court, including Cozy Melton, who is a talented underclassman with a bright future. Melton has really impressed her coaches with her talents on the court and has the potential to be a vital piece of the puzzle.
Sierra Harmon is the player that makes the biggest difference on the team, playing her role to perfection. Harmon will do anything to help her team reach their potential and it’s important to recognize that. Other players to watch include Lauren Taylor and Jacy Martinez. With these players returning, McAlester has a chance at a very successful season.
