McAlester cheerleader Zandrianna Harris told VYPE about herself in a recent interview.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals this year are to learn leadership and grow as a person. I have always wanted
to be a cheer captain and having a good attitude and being positive is something a captain
needs for good leadership so that’s something I would like to work on.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
I do not have just one favorite athletic memory, every moment i spent with my team i had fun. i
have never met a group of girls who I felt so easy to get along with. My favorite memories with
my team were tumblings on Wednesdays at All-Stars with them we had plenty of funny
moments and talks there, and I also loved cheering at games with those girls they made it so
fun.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Brynlee Ham. Brynlee always has a good attitude and is kind and helps anyone who needs
help. She’s easy to get along with and has a good personality she always puts in the work, she
is one of the reasons I want to be a captain. I know if I ever needed her she would be there. she
is a great leader and a hard worker. She has made me love cheer more than I already had
because she helped show me how fun it could be.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Growing relationships with the other girls. Cheer helps you make a lot of friends. I loved bonding
with my team and getting to know all of them and becoming friends with all of them. I grew
friendships with so many of those girls.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
When I was in cheer I did a lot of volunteering, I volunteered at Shared Blessings, Lyfe church,
schools, and read to kids, picked up trash at Chadick Park, and plenty more!
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
To try and have a better outlook on things and see how what you’re doing now will help in the
future. it also taught me how to be accountable and more responsible, and it also taught me
how to be better with my social skills.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
I don’t have any specific quotes but one thing is to not be hard on yourself. Many people think
that if they can’t get something right the first time that their automatically bad at it and they put
their self down or stressed over it. I used to do that. Over time you learn that things take time,
you have to work on whatever it is practice, and be patient, you will eventually get it, if you push
yourself so much all you’re going to do is get overwhelmed and not get it. So don’t be hard on
yourself just know that you’re still in the learning process and it’s okay to mess up.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Brynlee Ham and Alyssa Loudermilk these girls have had to deal with so much through their
sports but they still pushed through and did the best they could for us girls. They have inspired
me so much with cheer. Anytime I was having a hard time with it or was just struggling or
needed help, they were there.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Thank you, Brynlee Ham and Alyssa Loudermilk, for helping me throughout the years in cheer,
and for having good attitudes toward everything. y’all have really made me grow my love for
cheer. I love y’all girls.
