Head coach for the McAlester High School track and field team as well as the offensive coordinator for the football team, coach Brady May, lives and breathes sports.
“My favorite part of coaching is watching the kids succeed after all the hard work they have put into the week for that moment,” said coach May.
Growing up in McAlester, coach May played just about every sport he could. After high school he went on to play football at Southwestern College and from there went on to have a career as a professional in Arena football before eventually making his way back to his home roots in 2014.
“Once my athletes leave high school athletics, I want them to take with them the work ethic and accountability needed to succeed,” said coach May. “But also, how to have fun in whatever they are doing.”
This season started off a bit rough for coach May and his athletes as they were faced with the difficulties of some injuries. But it looks as though his athletes are on the up and up.
“I look forward to seeing our team compete at full strength and hope to be able to bring home the Regional Championship and take as many athletes as possible to the State Meet,” coach May said.
Along with coaching he also teaches Computers Apps I, II, and Computer Science I.
When coach May is not busy on the field with his athletes or in the classroom furthering their computer skills he enjoys creating digital media pictures, traveling, and working out.
