“He’s a true freshman that always comes game no matter how undersized he is. Came away with a Runner Up finish to a State Qualifier at Okmulgee. A lot of kids look at him as an easy 6, for their team and are surprised when pushes them to their limit,” said coach Kydel Billy-head wrestling coach at McAlester High School.
VYPE caught up with Hutchison as the season pushes closer to the state tournament.
VYPE: Kam, what do you love most about your team and teammates?
Hutchison: I love the way we all bring each other up win or lose right after the match. Sometimes after tough losses or even close wins we talk about the match and what we could’ve done better when we get back to the wrestling room.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject in school or a favorite teacher?
Hutchison: My favorite subject has got to be math as it comes pretty easy to me, but my favorite teacher is Mrs. Jeffreys who teaches art and is really fun to be around.
VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life, on or off the mat?
Hutchison: My big brother Nathan has had a huge influence in my life inside of wrestling and out. He’s definitely made me a bit tougher and he’s always there after my matches no matter the outcome.
