Cayven Hill, a sophomore at McAlester High School in McAlester, Oklahoma, is quickly making a name for himself on the basketball court. As a versatile player who can fill multiple roles, including shooting guard, small forward, and power forward, he brings energy, determination, and skill to every game he plays.
Hill’s journey in basketball has been shaped by the strong support of his parents and coaching staff, who he describes as caring and understanding. Their guidance has helped him stay focused and disciplined both on and off the court. Among the people who have had the greatest influence on his athletic career is Coach Lou Dawkins, McAlester’s basketball coach. Coach Dawkins has played a major role in developing Hill’s talent and has helped promote him to college programs, opening doors for his future in the sport.
Success for Hill has not come easily. It has been built on hard work, dedication, and attention to detail. He understands that true improvement comes from doing the little things right: putting up extra shots after practice, studying his game, and always striving to become a better teammate. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence are what set him apart from other players.
A major highlight in Hill’s career so far has been receiving his first college offer from Redlands Community College. The offer serves as a milestone in his journey and a reflection of the effort he has put into his craft. It also serves as motivation for him to continue working toward his long-term goal of more college offers and the dream of playing Division I basketball after high school.
Although Hill is not currently involved in high school clubs or other campus organizations, basketball remains his primary focus and passion. Representing McAlester High School means a great deal to Hill, and he takes pride in wearing the school’s colors each time he steps onto the court.
With his talent, determination, and the unwavering support of his family and coaches, Cayven Hill continues to rise as one of McAlester’s most promising young athletes, a player with big dreams and the drive to achieve them.
