The McAlester Lady Buffs basketball team is prepping for the impending 2023-24 season. With a 15-11 record last season, including a trip to the area tournament last year, and a talented mix of returning players and promising newcomers, they’re poised to achieve great things. The Lady Buffs are hungry for this new basketball season; even the coaches can feel it. Led by head coach Jarrod Owen and assisted by Delante Redway and Kourtnee Beshears, the Lady Buffs are well-prepared for the upcoming season of play. “We have a great group returning from last year’s area tournament team, including some talented newcomers that could make their way into the rotation,” Owen said. “We are very excited about our chances this year.” Jada Ponce (Sr.) is a standout player and a four-year starter who already boasts a state championship under her belt. Her experience and leadership make her a pivotal part of the team’s success. She’s not only a great asset to the Lady Buffs but also a fantastic addition for any roster. Kaylee Knight is the team-player of the squad. She consistently brings tremendous energy to practice and games, lifting the spirits of her teammates. Her dedication and hard work elevate the entire team’s performance, making her an invaluable part of the Lady Buffs. The McAlester Lady Buffs are on the verge of an incredible season. With a proven track record, experienced players and new talents, they are set to make a significant impact.
