McAlester High School’s Nate Hutchison is a decorated wrestler and one of the podium hopefuls this season for the Buffaloes. Hutchison has won tournaments including the Okmulgee Bulldog Tournament and the McAlester Invitational. He’s also a two-time state qualifier and someone head coach Kydel Billy is excited to see compete at state.
To learn more about Hutchison, VYPE Magazine caught up with Hutchison before dual state and the state tournament.
VYPE: Nate, what do you love most about your team and teammates?
Hutchison: The biggest thing I love about my teammates is their desire to come in everyday, bust their butts, and strive to learn something new.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject in school or a favorite teacher?
Hutchison: My favorite subject in school has to be science but my favorite teacher has to be Mr. Calaway.
VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life, on or off the mat?
Hutchison: I think that my parents have been the biggest influence in my life. Growing up I was taught to do what I love and to be myself and I don’t think I would be the person I am today if I didn’t have them.
